Fil-am Foundation leads community health initiative

San Francisco – West Bay Multi-Service Corporation, a leading non-profit 501(c) (3) foundation, has received a US $49,040 grant from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for its project, "Healthy Neighborhoods, Healthy Lives".
The project aims to increase community awareness among Filipinos living in San Francisco about the causes of being overweight and obese, and encourage community-led solutions like improved access to recreational facilities and access to high quality food. VIENNA -- Though the celebration is still on July 12, 2008, the Circulo Caviteno in Austria is now busy preparing for the biggest open air celebration of the Filipinos in Austria, the Barrio Fiesta 2008. Rolly Mercado, president of Circulo Caviteno, said that Barrio Fiesta "is one of the most enduring cultural traditions, especially welcomed and enjoyed by the Filipinos in overseas communities like here in Austria. HANOI, VIETNAM – True to their band’s name, four Filipinos here are carving Melia Hanoi hotel’s watering hole for fellow OFWs craving for a taste of home.
They call themselves the D’Sensations, now on their second month here in a year's-long tour of gigs across Asia.

Filipinos among top migrants in 16 countries

MANILA, Philippines –Filipinos are slowly conquering various countries through sheer numbers.
A recently-released report by the World Bank identified Filipinos as among the top 10 foreigners in 16 big and small countries in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.
The WB’s Migration and Remittances Factbook 2008 cited Filipinos lead the number of foreigners in Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Canada, Cyprus, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Oman, Palau, Saudi Arabia, the Solomon Islands, and the US.
