Andrew Tan was coming from a poor family who migrated to the Philippines from the Fujian province, south China. He grew up in Manila, dreamed of owning his own small business in the future. Andrew studied accounting at the University of the East and graduated with honors. He was a hardworker with his previous jobs with Union Hitachi, Ajinomoto, etc.

Years later, he would become the Philippine's fourth wealthiest billionaire (according to Forbes Magazine), trailing the Zobel-Ayala clan, Henry Sy of SM Group and Banco de Oro, and Lucio Tan of Philippine Airlines and Philippine National Bank. Andrew Tan's personal net worth is $1.1 billion dollars.

He owns the condominium-developer Megaworld, the world's biggest brandy producer Emperador Distillers, Inc and 49% shareholdings in the nationwide Philippine franchise of Mcdonald's fastfood chain.
