Arnel Pineda, was born in Manila, Philippines in 1967. He started his singing career with a band called Ijos when he was 15 years old. Early in his career in 1987and 1988 he bagged the Best Vocalist Award in the World Band Explosion in Tokyo. He did regular gigs in local clubs in Quezon,Olongapo and Makati when he joined the pop/rock group "Amo". When some of the original members of Amo left the band in the late 1990s, he formed a new band New Age and eventually had a successful career as a regular in Igor's restaurant in Hongkong. He also recorded under the Warner Bros record label during his spare time and produced such hits as "Iiyak ka rin" and "Sayang".

There were countless clips of his performances posted on Youtube and his biggest break was when Neal Schon of the hit 80's band Journey chanced upon his videos and invited him to audition. He flew to San Francisco to audition in August of 2007 and wowed the band members. He officially became the vocalist of Journey on December of 2007. Currently Arnel is busy recording with the group and their album is set for release in the summer or spring of 2008.
