Filipino priest in UN named vatican envoy to Haiti

MANILA, Philippines - Pope Benedict XVI has named yet another Filipino priest, this time one based in the United Nations, to be an apostolic nuncio to Haiti.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines disclosed Friday night that Msgr. Bernardito Auza was elevated to the dignity of archbishop with his appointment.

RP's anti-TB efforts gets boost with P7.2M Japan grant

MANILA, Philippines - The Japanese government on Thursday gave the Philippines a major boost in its efforts to fight tuberculosis in depressed areas of Metro Manila.

Black-browed reed warblerMANILA, Philippines - A local group of birdwatchers announced that it has recorded the first Philippine sighting of a black-browed reed warbler (Acrocephalus bistrigiceps), which is similar and closely related to the more common and widespread reed warbler.

A proposed partnership between Calamba, Laguna and the municipality of Wilhelmsfeld in Germany will be the subject of a visit to Calamba by a group of Philippine consuls and members of the Philippine Embassy Economic Advisory Group from Germany later this month.
